The POSH Retreat is an annual conference and group of kickass female filmmakers and photographers from around the world who learn from and support each other. Jennifer Moon and Reagan Zugelter founded The POSH Retreat in 2010 to further education and to build relationships among women in the visual arts industry. The POSH Retreat has led to a thriving online community that learns, shares and inspires each other daily. The in person POSH experience is different because it’s an intimate gathering which nurtures and strengthens relationships, allows for deep conversations about business and technical successes and struggles. The POSH Retreat is structured with educational content, group discussions, to learn from each other, and some free time for adventure, fun, good food and relaxation.

The POSH Retreat Founder

Jennifer Moon

What started as a hobby grew so fast that within one year Jennifer Moon of Northernlight Filmworks turned filmmaking into her full time job. In 2007 she left her career in special education to focus on filming and editing weddings and commercial projects. Soon after Northernlight Filmworks success gained national recognition earning a spot as one of Event DV’s Top 25 Most Influential Filmmakers of the year in 2009.

In 2010, combined with her love of teaching and sharing with others, Jen and co-founder Reagan Zugelter (of Studio Z Films in Cincinnati) started The POSH Retreat to further education, inspire each other and build relationships among women in the visual arts industry.

Jen’s passion for telling compelling wedding stories lead her and husband John to create Story House Media to focus on commercial storytelling. Together they have 5 grown children, a granddaughter, and a sweet black lab named Marshall Tucker. When not filming weddings, she loves spending time with family and friends, boating at the lake, traveling to new destinations, cooking, gardening and knitting.

Maura Coleman

Becoming a wedding videographer was a serendipitous accident that Maura stumbled upon while teaching high school art and completing a Masters degree in museum education. 15 years later she continues to split her time between filming corporate projects and creating beautiful wedding films. The struggle to balance work with family and raising a 13 & 16 yr old with her husband Sam is real, but the flexibility of this business out-ways the difficulty. When Maura is not working on projects with Creative Films, she can be found exploring Kansas City with her daughter Lily, playing frisbee golf with her son Cole, or walking dogs with her husband Sam. Maura is still strives to create art in her spare time and the latest mediums she is exploring are encaustic treatments to photography and weaving on a refurbished floor loom.

Feedback from our past attendees:

“LOVED ALL OF THE SPEAKERS. They were amazing, so insightful and sparked my creative energy. I am motivated to really get going on my business. They made me feel like I could do anything if I set my mind to it. I’m not a big cruiser…so that’s the only reason I rated it that way. I tend to get sea sick and would have liked the seminar better on land 🙂 Prizes were great…bonding too. I will definitely be going next year!”

“I was very, very happy with the whole experience! I thought the cruise was an AWESOME idea because not only was it fun and different, but it also made everyone network (since we weren’t connected to our phones, computers, etc). I also loved how our days were set up – I couldn’t have asked for a better schedule. The speakers were PHENOMENAL! I have taken more from this trip than any other conference or meeting I’ve ever been to. On the flight home I kept going over everything I wanted to fix/change with our business and how I was going to do it! Overall I think this was the best business/personal trip I’ve ever been on (excluding my honeymoon of course! lol). I know I thanked you both over and over again while on the cruise – but seriously – thank you for making this all possible and really bringing it together! All of the women that attended have been changed forever. Not to rush you – but I’m seriously looking forward to POSH part 2!”

“POSH was an incredible experience! I loved that we got the opportunity to spend so much time connecting with other women in the wedding and event film industry.”

“WONDERFUL workshop – thank you so much! I am so excited about the pool of talent that we had and the connections that were made during the week – all from a few strong women on twitter with our wine one day! AMAZING. Thanks for taking this on ladies!”

“I absolutely loved the POSH experience! All of you are incredible!!! BTW I am wearing my POSH t-shirt today :)

Jen and Reagan, THANK YOU just doesn’t seem to express how thankful I am for all the work you put into making POSH beyond “just another retreat.” I am inspired and relaxed!”

“It was such a great opportunity for me to get to meet so many talented ladies!! I will never forget the trip!! Thank you so much to Jen and Reagan for all your efforts. I had an awesome time and I can’t wait to look at all the footage and photos I shot!”
